Dale Johnson took 2nd place for his beautiful photo “Jomblang Cave, Indonesia.”
As Johnson explains in his photo caption, “I’ve been traveling to Jakarta for work a bit lately and I’m always looking for new places to photograph. I was inspired by some shots of this cave I found here on 500px and knew that I had to go there. This was the toughest selfie I’ve ever taken.”
Meanwhile, Derek Burdeny’s photo “Nature’s Fury” placed 3rd in the contest.
In The Weather Channel’s feature on Burdeny, he explains that he captured the shot while he “was chasing some storms in Texas.”
