We’re starting off 2016 with a very diverse, talented cohort of Guest Editors that are sure to unearth some amazing content from the 500px archives!
What kinds of photos will a talented surrealist like Matilde Aamodt uncover? What about Alan Humphris, whose abstract long-exposure street photography really blew us away when we discovered it a few months back?
I guess you’ll just have to visit the Editors’ Choice page and see for yourself. And if you think you’ve got some photography worthy of the coveted EC badge, get in touch with these Editors and show them what you’ve got!
I am a 25 year old architecture student and art photographer based in the middle of Norway.
Ice cream or pizza?: Pizza!
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: My dream dinner date would be with one of my great great grandparents. I think we could learn a great deal from them.
I’m the enthusiast who can’t stop taking pictures, searching for the way to visually communicate my response to the world.
Now based in Scotland, when I’m not talking about photography, I’m searching the streets catching images that resonate, play with light, and perhaps reflect the interconnectedness of our world.
Ice cream or pizza?: Pizza, I’m definitely a savory not sweet kind of guy.
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: My wife, she has a smile that lights up my life, and would never be a dull date.
I’m a 25 year old applied arts graduate and a huge cat lover. I’ve always been involved in creating, whether through drawing, writing, or DIY projects. Therefore, photography just happens to be another medium through which I can express my thoughts and tell stories.
My fields of interest are mainly fine art and portraiture and I like to create colour images that will provoke an emotion.
I like movies, travelling, meeting new people, and lingering on the beach on warm summer days with a book in hand.
Ice cream or pizza?: Nachos!
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: Emma Watson. I think she’s making a great effort standing up for women’s rights and, as a hardcore fan, I would like to hear more fun stories about the filming of Harry Potter.
Kayt Silvers is a fashion and fine art photographer based in New England. She is one half of the photography duo Silvers & Bynes.
In between photoshoots, she spends her time making paper flowers and has managed to spend her life savings shopping on Etsy.
Ice cream or pizza?: This is an impossible decision.
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: Probably Vladimir Nabokov. He had an amazing ability to use language to evoke images more clearly than any photograph.
Hi, my name is Hunter Reilly. I’m 21 years old and am currently living in New Jersey!
Ice cream or pizza?: Pizza
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: Candice Swanepoel. Do I really have to explain haha
I was born and grew up in Japan. I like to take photos of “Little Happiness” in my life—when I eat something, when I have a cup of coffee, when the beautiful light comes in my room, and so on…
Often I make photography with Japanese culture, because of my familiar things. Additionally, I love to look at the variety culture of world on 500px.
Ice cream or pizza?: Mmmm… I can’t choose, need both!
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: Madonna, her way of life is so cool.
“Ronald Koster is a “Creative & Commercial Photographer”, based in the flatlands Amsterdam area, with a passion for independent work. For his independent work he “picks” his models largely from the street.
Ronald is a “strobist” photographer of the first hour, and specialized in the use of flash. You do not have to invest thousands of euros in costly flash equipment to create a professional image when you understand the use, behavior, and character of flashlight. Still, the small flash is often an underestimated tool. Small strobes will work also in many cases compared to expensive studio strobes, Light = Light!
Ronald has worked hard in recent years to nail down his own recognizable consistent style. His photographs have their “looks” not achieved by endless post-processing but especially by clever use of flash. Shooting with speedlights is so much more than dropping a few flashes and having them go off.
Since 2010 he gives national and international trainings, seminars, and lectures focusing on flash photography. These are received enthusiastically by the participants. 2016 will be a year with many positive changes in the practice sessions which he gives, so stay tuned!
Ice cream or pizza?: Ice cream
Who is your dream dinner date (anyone dead or alive) and why?: Nobody especially.
