There are a million reasons why you should hire a dancer or gymnast for a photo shoot. A totally different experience from shooting a model, the resulting shots can definitely reach next-level status if you take the time to work with the pro in front of you.
Case in point: behold the work of the incredibly talented Dimitry Roulland.
He consistently captures some of our all-time favorite dance/gymnastics shots on 500px without ever setting foot in the studio. Instead, he has his talented subjects go out and “perform” in real life, on the streets. The poses his subjects can strike are out of this world, making for some truly captivating portraits.
You won’t find any flour in his camera bag and these amazing performers aren’t ever standing in front of a black seamless—they’re interacting with their surroundings, flying through the air with a skyline as their backdrop, and holding impossible poses that will leave your jaw slack.
Oh, and to add awe to jealousy, he’s only 23 years old… yeah… we know.
