UPDATE: Since we’ve been getting a number of questions from 500px community members, we wanted to answer some of these questions with a bit more clarity—see the updated Q&A section below. If you still have questions, please reach out to help@500px.com and our customer support team will be happy to help.

A memo to our passionate community:

We wanted to let you know that as of February 12, Classes will be removed from 500px. As a result, we’ll also be ending membership subscriptions on our Android and iOS apps.

While we loved hosting Classes, we want to get back to the core of 500px: our community. We’re passionate about providing you with an engaging and personalized experience that helps you network with other photographers more easily, get discovered, and be inspired by incredible images daily.

We want to thank everyone who participated in our live sessions and in 500px Classes in general, as well as all of the talented instructors who created incredible content for you.

You’ll have access to the entire Classes catalogue until it’s removed from 500px on February 12. However, education is still important to us, so keep your eye out for some amazing tutorials on our blog, social channels, and the 500px site.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions.

Yours in passionate photography,
– The 500px Team

Q: Why should we keep our memberships if you don’t offer Classes anymore?

A: Even without Classes, 500px is the place for photographers to post their best work, grow their photography business, and enjoy high-quality photography from other photographers around the world.

When you subscribe on 500px as an Awesome member, you’re able to grow your exposure and audience with Stats and unlimited uploads. With Stats, you’re able to see where your views are coming from and which of your photos get the best reaction. With unlimited uploads you’re not restricted by the upload limits of free users – upload as many photos as you’d like.

When you subscribe to our Pro membership, you’re also able to customize your profile and promote yourself as a professional photographer so you can grow your business. You can list your specialties, gear, and when you’re available for work on the Services tab on your profile. If you run workshops, you’re able to promote them on your profile and photos.

You can learn more about our memberships here.

Q: Why couldn’t you have kept Classes up for longer, or made them available for download?

A: As mentioned above, we are excited to get back to the core of 500px and what made it so great in the first place: our community. We have some exciting projects in the works that will help you network more easily with other like-minded photographers and discover more inspiring photography.

This is not the last time you’ll see this content! The photographers we worked with to create this content are incredibly talented and we’re excited to use this content in other ways. We’ll be adding these videos to our blog, YouTube, and other areas of the site over the next few months. Subscribe to our newsletter so that you can stay up to date with what we’re posting on the blog (you’ll also get a free ebook when you subscribe!).

Q: What’s the deal with the Android / iOS stuff? Can we still use 500px on our phones?

A: Absolutely! We’ll actually be focusing even more on our Android and iOS apps to make sure that we’re providing you with the best experience on your mobile device of choice.

Since Classes were the main draw to pay for a subscription on mobile, we’re removing paid subscriptions from our apps. If you’re a free user, you’ll still be able to upload, browse, and discover new photographers and images in the same way you could before on mobile, and if you’re a paid user, you’ll still be able to upload unlimited photos from the app.
