On Saturday, January 24th, 500px will be doing our first photowalk of 2015 in Toronto, San Francisco AND New York City… all at once! It’s completely free, so just RSVP to the appropriate FB page (TO, SF or NYC) and get ready to explore your city with a top-notch 500px photographer in the lead.

If you follow 500px on Facebook or Twitter, you already know that the first 500px photowalk of 2015 is just around the corner. This is especially exciting for me, since I’m about as new to 500px as the newest of our users, and can’t wait to meet some of you in person! But it’s also very exciting for another reason… and her name is Vivienne Gucwa.

You might know her through her Facebook page, or maybe through her blog, or most recently through her New York City Coffee Table Book that is selling so fast Amazon is having a hard time keeping it in stock! But however you know her, you definitely don’t want to miss the opportunity to have her guide you around New York City on a frozen, fun-filled mobile photowalk.

Vivienne’s story, if you’ve not already heard it, is truly exceptional. In school, working multiple jobs, and broke as only someone trying to stay afloat New York City can be, she took to walking around New York for hours to “de-stress.”

The more she walked, the more she saw that needed photographing, and so she used her limited funds to buy an only partially working Samsung point-and-shoot. She began taking pictures, started a blog, and before she knew it her following was growing by the thousands per day.

That is how the photographer taking the pictures you see above and below got her start. What’s your excuse?

These days Vivienne enjoys a following that numbers in the millions, taking pictures of New York City full time and seeing her images in Coach stores and her very own New York Coffee Table book. It’s safe to say she’s living, not just “the” dream, but HER dream.

And on January 24th, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and take pictures with Vivienne as we walk around New York City and ply our mobile photography skills on a frozen photowalk around the Big Apple.
