This month, Evgeny Tchebotarev has been on a road trip across Northwest USA, from California to Seattle to Colorado. Follow the adventure on Instagram, Twitter, or 500px with hashtag #500northwest.
It’s Day 7 now. We’ve been on a road for quite some time now. We covered some 3500 km so far, and about the same amount has been left to cover.
The best part so far has been Glacier National Park. I think if a zombie apocalypse hit the humanity, this would be a #1 spot to hide out and live. It’s just so vast, calm, and beautiful.
As usual, I’m taking a lot of iPhone photos on the road. It became a quick and convenient tool to share the moment, and to express the mood and feelings at the moment. The photos from a “real camera” are a different breed — they need some thought to them. They also look like standalone heroes, so each of them is a work in itself; whereas iPhone photos allow me to tell a narrative, a story. Here is the summary of what happened in the last few days.
First up, we stayed at Silver Ski Chalet on a Crystal Mountain at the Mt. Rainier. It was cold and foggy, and not as peaceful when we arrived, exhausted, by midnight. However, by the morning it cleared up and it became apparent why this is such a beautiful spot.
Our take at the sunrise photo. It was moody and foggy. While the colors were beautiful, the key shot here — with a mountain reflected on the lake was missing.
Another view of the morning fog. It was so quiet and peaceful that the only thing that you can hear — is you.
On the way to Glacier National Park, we stopped by the Apple Store to pick some apples that a lot of people have been talking about lately. Only a few of those were 4.7″ or 5.5″, but their shape makes it hard to measure them precisely. No lineups, though!
A gem of the day at the Glacier National Park. The early sunrise with beautiful pinky-orange hues over the mountains. Shot at the McDonald Lake.
One of the classical views of the Lake McDonald at the sunrise. 500px has a lot of photos from this place, and I was lucky enough to add one to this great collection of inspiring shots.
Found these two cute mountain goats on Hidden Lake Overlook Trail. They are not afraid of people, so one can get a very good shot with any camera of those goats, even the baby goats.
Larger overlook of the Glacier National Park. The colors are already turning yellow, so another few days and it will be burning with beautiful colors. Unfortunately, parts of the park will be closing as early as 7:00 a.m. on September 22, 2014, so check the official site for announcements.
So what’s next? We are going to be in Yellowstone National Park later today, and spend a few days there. If you see our car, come say hi, snap a picture with the car or the team, share it on Twitter on 500px.com, tag it #500northwest — and you’ll get a chance to win a special prize!
