This morning, I woke up to a fire escape and sidewalks covered in over 2 feet of snow; to cars completely buried beneath snow drifts as tall as myself; to the sound of shovels, snow blowers, and transit busses with chains on their back tires, scraping and slurping noisily down slush-covered streets.
Winter Storm Jonas was supposed to bring 6-12 inches of accumulation to New York City and the surrounding areas. By the time the snow stopped, JFK airport was reporting over 27.
And as soon as #Blizzard2016 morphed into #Snowpocalypse2016, the photographers came out in droves to capture the normally packed sidewalks and streets of New York City all but deserted as people retreated to the safety of their apartments.
