Editor’s Note: 500px NEXT is a new Special Feature we’re debuting here on 500px ISO. NEXT stands for Noteworthy, Emerging, eXpressive, and Tenacious: the four characteristics that every artist labeled a “500px NEXT” photographer has in spades.
Their work inspires, pushes boundaries, and sits at the bleeding edge of photography’s latest trends and techniques. If you think you deserve to be featured as a 500px NEXT photographer, or you know someone who does, send me an email at dl@500px.com.
We should be used to young, incredibly talented new 500pxers blowing our minds, but it still takes us by surprise every time we stumble across someone like Noelle Buske.
At just 18-years-old, the Ashville, NC-based amateur dubs herself an “aspiring photographers” but there’s very little about her work that needs to “aspire” … it’s already there. Her portraits are dark, at times oddly composed, and so very different from what we’re used to.
No nuclear eyes, sometimes no eyes at all in fact. She’ll focus on someone’s hands, or capture telling posture that needs no pouty look or piercing stare to draw you in, and she plays with natural light in creative ways that had us captivated as we scrolled through her nascent account.
Noelle’s portraiture is an example of youth being a distinct advantage. She has a fresh perspectives and offers a new creative vision that’s a breath of fresh air. And since this is just the beginning of her photographic journey, we can’t wait to see how that vision evolves!
To see more from Noelle, give her a follow on 500px or check her out on Facebook and Instagram.
