Still life has long been a favorite style for artists of all mediums, and photography is no exception. Most often, a still life depicts inanimate subject matter, usually everyday items, things like human-made objects, food, or flowers, for example. We recently challenged the 500px community to submit their takes on still life photography in our Art of the Still Life Quest.
Inspired by today’s still life photography trends of flat lays, styled food scenes, and the popular hashtag #handsinframe (can’t forget that human element!), we asked you to submit your best still life shots for the chance to have that photo purchased by 500px. What were our judges looking for? Composition is always a key consideration to take note of when framing a photo that will sell. Additionally, striking color and a unique perspective of everyday objects, are what made these photos so impressive to our judges.
