This one’s for all the photographers who have ever dreamed of quitting their day jobs, packing a small bag (mainly with camera gear), and hitting the open road in search of adventure. And it’s all brought to you by our friends, Adventure.com!
If you haven’t already heard of them, Adventure.com is a brand-new place online to collect, curate, and share meaningful stories and experiences. They organize and send adventurers on amazing and unique trips around the world, in an attempt to “inspire people to break out of their comfort zone.” We love Adventure.com because it’s the perfect place to get inspired for your next trip and plan it, whether it’s choosing from one of their pre-planned trips or creating your own.
Here’s the deal: Adventure.com will sponsor a photographer to go on a photography assignment, free of charge, to any of the following locations below. You will act as a real photojournalist and document your entire trip—your photos and story will be published on Adventure.com under your name afterwards!

You can apply to be Adventure.com‘s photojournalist by taking and submitting a photo that represents “The Definition of Adventure”. So, what does adventure mean to you? What inspires you to get out of your comfort zone and into the world?
Let’s get to the rules!
- You have from Tuesday, July 8 until Tuesday, July 22 at midnight EST to apply.
- Upload your photo entry on 500px.com by hashtagging it with #VentureOut. Click here to see how to add and manage tags to your 500px photos. You can enter as many photos as you’d like, and they can be new or old photos.
- View your entries and the rest of the submissions here.
- Adventure.com will choose one winning submission. The results will be announced and posted here on July 29.
Some requirements!
- You must be both a member of 500px.com and Adventure.com to enter. Register as an Adventure.com member here with your 500px email address. It’s a simple 3-step process!
- Your submission must reflect the theme, “The Definition of Adventure” to be considered.

Share your entry on Twitter with the hashtag #VentureOut and tag @500px and @adventurecom. Also, mark your calendars for July 15 at 1pm EST: We are hosting a Twitter Chat on @500px with Adventure.com, where you’ll have the chance to win even more prizes!
About the trip
This contest is open to anyone around the world. The winning photographer can bring along one other photographer to help with the assignment. Adventure.com will work with the winner to create the itinerary of their choice in one of the locations listed above. Adventure.com will cover airfare and itinerary activities combined for up to 10,000 CAD for up to two people (combined).
